War Service Badge "General Service Class" and wallet card
All Active Service members of the Canadian Military from WW II, as opposed to conscripts, received one of these badges on Discharge. It was to be worn as a civilian to indicate that the wearer was on Active Service (General Service Class) during WW II. The badges have a serial number and the wearer was to carry the wallet card, when wearing the badge, to confirm rightful ownership of the badge. The badge is shiny silver but regrettably the scanned copy of the badge, reproduced as black. - W.M. Sutherland.
