Signal Hill images - comments by Cec Law

Remember, I didn't join the SSR until beginning of Sept '44. But I happened to know a number of people earlier. Here are my notes, for what they are worth.

Image 6 Memorial Service for Lord Tweedsmuir is the correct spelling!
Im 37 This is a Norton Bike and was probably taken in the UK in '42. Note TAC sign 67.
Im 40 This is a Bren Gun Carrier, not a tank! Note Tac sign of 67.
Im 43 The soldier on the left is L-12030 Kercher E.R. (Ted). He was a Cpl at Dieppe, and WIA. He was commissioned in 1943 back in Canada with me. He was WIA again, 4Aug44, at Verrieres Village and DOW 5Aug44. He was a great guy.
Im 46 RSM R. Strum and officer(???)
Im 49 CSM, later commissioned, but I can't remember the name.
Im 57 In Canada
Im 60 Don Allan, later CSM "A Coy".
Im 62 RSM Strum i first row, third from right.
Im 64 Post war II. (CVSM and clasp)
Im 70 UK. The man on the right is the mayor. Where?? (Seaford??)
Im 72 Padre and Lt Peter Watkinson, I believe.
Im 73 Bruce Buchanan (Lt or Captain) and ???
Im 74 B.G. Buchanan and ???
Im 75 Two officers, unknown to me.
Im 79 RSM Strum, UK, Note they still have TAC sign of 67.
Im 86 In UK (Gas masks) but don't know where or when.
Im 107 This is RSM Strum and others in pre-WWII uniforms. Note wide WWI webbing and South Sask antelopes on cap badges.
IM 108 This isa RSM Strum getting MBE, NOT OBE.
Im 109 Pre war. Note Puttees and web. Could be 1939, or even early 1940.
Im 110 Lt. Peter Watkinson receiving Colours from HRH Geo. VI. UK 17Jul43, according to Buchanan's book. I believe man on right is Lt. Gen A.G.L. McNaughton.

Im 112 This goes with Im 110. Presentation of Colours to SSR. 17JUL43.
Im 113 1939 or early 1940. Note Puttees. Canada.
Im 115 Sgts Mess
Im 116 RSM Strum
Im 120 Lt Peter Watkinson.
Im 121 The SSR Officers and Geo. VI and Queen Elizabeth.
Im 122 Colour Party, King Geo VI, Queen E. , Gen. McNaughton, High Commissioner Vincent Massey in Civilian clothes.
Im 123 Assorted Canadian, and a few Brit guests at Presentation of Colours. Montague is only one I really recognize.

Sorry, best I can do so far. Let me see the maps and traces and other items from the fighting days, and I might do better!
