George(s) Prefontaine (L.155516) Private/Corporal, South Saskatchewan Regiment. He was in service from February 1943 until February 1946. He saw combat in the Falaise Campaign, the Battle of the Scheldt, the various battles to liberate the Netherlands, and the Battle of Hochwald Gap in Germany. He was a Bren gunner.

George Prefontaine was born in Lisieux, Saskatchewan in 1923 and he died in Moose Jaw in 1979. For most of his life after the war, 1946-1971, he was a farmer living near Rockglen, Saskatchewan. In 1971, he moved his family to Rockglen where he ran an approved home for mentally handicapped adults, along with his wife Velma. After a stroke in 1977, he retired and lived in Rockglen on an Army pension until he died in 1979.
