Casualty List entry

"...nominal roles. They are like the proverbial hen's teeth. The explanation is apparently that the unit records were destroyed in the shelling of "A" Echelon and accompanying fire about 25 or 25 April 45. I was at "A" Echelon that night, and it was one of my ammo trucks that blew up, and my armourer who was killed, along with several other casualties. I was standing, watching the show with Buck Buchanan (I was sharing his house that night, preparing to go on leave the next morning.) The Jerries used a 280 mm railway gun, and did a real job, not surprisingly, since this was in Germany. " -Cec Law, SSR veteran.
