Legion of Honour Medal

In Saskatoon, on Thursday, 27 Apr 2017, Marcel was awarded the Legion of Honour medal by the government of France in recognition of his participation of the liberation of France during WWII. About 100 people were in attendance, including residents of the Bentley, family, the Legion President, and Vincent Martin, the Honorary Consul of the French Embassy. Greg Salmers, an Honorary Life Member of the South Saskatchewan Regiment Association and SSR webmaster, was MC. A PowerPiont presentation was shown featuring images from Marcel's life, family, and time as a soldier.
