COLDWELL--James William.

Jim died peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit of the Pasqua Hospital on Sunday, September 19, 1999.

He was born August 19, 1914 in Mastin Moor, Derbyshire, England, where his father was a coal miner. In 1928, he came with his parents and brothers to live in Saskatchewan.

He worked as a farm hand until he joined the South Saskatchewan Regiment in March 1940. In December the regiment went overseas where they trained and on August 19, 1942, in France he was badly wounded and taken prisoner until he was liberated eight months later.

He was returned to Regina in June 1945 and on December 1, married Betty Holmes. He assisted his father-in-law in the office of the rural municipality of Oungre and in 1951 started to work for Canada Customs, a position he held for thirty years.

He was active in coaching Little League Softball and Hockey and was an ac- tive member of the South Saskatchewan Legion Branch No. 306. He golfed and curled and was a avid gardener.

He was predeceased by his parents, Joe and Hannah Coldwell; his two brothers, Joseph and George; and his grandson Luke Storle. Jim is survived by his wife, Betty; son William (Marcie); daughter Maureen (Wilfred Holywell); son Alan (Debra); and daughter Mavis (Wayne Storle); his Sister Hannah; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as his many friends at Lakewood Manor.

FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at Heritage United Church, 1050 Arnason Street, on Wednesday, September 22, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Paul Dillman, oficiating. Flowers are gratefully declined.
